Open Dag

Academie Minerva is an art academy within Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, the Netherlands, working toward building an international community of creative students. Each year, they host two open days to welcome prospective applicants. For the 2022–2023 academic year, I was selected to co-design the campaign. Together, we developed a vibrant visual language that reflected the diversity of the school, bringing together the essence of fine arts, design, pop culture, and art education in one cohesive identity.

The main graphic of the campaign is based on visualising the phrase “Open Dag.” The word “Open” is built from custom typography, each letter starting from the same base circle, then carved and shaped into its final form. These letterforms serve as a visual anchor and backdrop for the rest of the text, creating a balanced and inviting composition that draws the eye in. This approach reflects the creative development that happens within the academy, while keeping the practical information clear and accessible.

For each department we created a different color palette, all grounded in the same graphic system to ensure cohesion across the campaign.
